Easter is meant to be a symbol of hope, renewal, and new life.” – Janine di Giovanni
Today marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion. According to the New Testament, Jesus came back to life on Sunday, the third day after his death on the cross, the Friday before Easter.
Solidarity regards and calvary greetings from the stable of National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) Ekiti Axis to all progressive Nigerian students, ever dynamic leaders and cadres in the struggle.
It is imperative and sacrosanct at this crucial moment to address issues that are affecting the academic welfare of the students as it greatly reflect on the promising future of individuals and peaceful coexistence of the society.
*Leadership of NANS
The entire students populace in the federation has lost hope in the present leadership of NANS, the leadership of NANS led by Com. Tijani Usman has long buried the genuine desire and passion to drive a purposeful union and has been passive towards the agitations and yarnings of Nigerian students.
We call on the Senate President of NANS to awake from his slumber and resurrect to his responsibilities as our lord Jesus Christ has risen today and call for Pre Convention to allow the Senators to fashion a way forward out of this ineptitude and bring to an end the long overdue tenure of the present administration. At this point, there is an urgent need for revitalizing, resuscitating, and redeeming the true spirit and image of unionism and actually bring NANS back to our various campuses not Area 3 garden.
*Active Students’ Unionism
In the face of the deplorable state of students’ unionism in Nigeria today, it has become imperative that we think and work towards the evolution of student unions that would be positive and progressive and at the same time, confrontational.
*NOW: State of the State
We wish to restate our commitment towards the emancipation and total liberation of Nigerian students. We will never settle for less, until our agitations are attended to. #Total Reversal of the N1000 throat-cutting Taxes leveled on poor parents on behalf of their wards in primary and Secondary Schools, #Reduction of College of Education Ikere Fees, Blackouts in the Campus Residential Environments of EKSU.
In the next 7 days, the management of the College of Education Ikere Ekiti should expect Maximum Scientific Aluta that will be Man to Man, Lady for Lady and Blood for Blood.
It is expedient to reawaken the consciousness of Nigerian students and stand for our rightful rights.
